Happy Valentine's Day!

Hello all,
I am sorry for my long absence. The end of last year threw me some curve balls that I never saw coming, nor did I know how they would end. So this Valentine's day has a brand new meaning this year.

My husband got a call in October from a Co-worker in DC that they needed him to assist with a maternity leave gap in their work. Well off to DC he went, leaving me working 40 hours a week and caring for our lovely girls all by myself. My time and especially sewing time went out the window. We he worked up in DC weekly for 3 months.

Then unexpectedly he was offered a Job with this new team and we were uncertain that we might have to move, well thankfully we do not.

So on top of the holidays being my absolute craziest time of the year for work...it was for my family as well with Daddy gone.

I did somehow get my Charming stars quilt made for my Mother-in-Law for Christmas, PJs made for my cousins children and my Swoon quilt cut for my Sister-in-Law.

I am thankful to be back sewing as it is a creative love in my life. I am also truly thankful and blessed to have my husband back home with a new job that he gets to work for home.

So I am thankful this Valentine's day to have a hubby who lets me be creative, who misses me when he is gone, who helps me with chores around the house, and doesn't mind telling me how beautiful I am (even though I tell him I am not!) I am thankful that my girls love their daddy, and that he is home!

I hope that this Valentine's Day you have been blessed by multiple loves in your life and that we all get to be creative...I also promise not to be so silent for so long.

Much Love!

Well Happy Belated Halloween.  It was a rainy an soggy one here in VA. We did get to visit all the important people like family and that was about it. I have been busy in the sewing room. I made my oldest daughter's Rapunzel from the Disney Movie Tangled Costume. I also made the Dorothy costume that my youngest wore a couple of years ago for my oldest daughter. I know I recycled. But hey I am a working mom and time is precious! They both looked adorable anyways :-)

I also did some commission work for one of my co-workers. It was been harder to get out and sew in the evening since my husband's job moved him 2 hours away from us during the week. He is supposed to be in this position until the New Year. I am hoping that I survive it and can find my mojo in all of our schedules.  I have started to think about what I want to make folks for Christmas...I really need to get crackin....Well I hope to write to you all soon with some wonderful items that I have finished! :-) I hope you have a great weekend!

And then there were 20!

I know I should be saying welcome back to my own self. We have started preschool for my oldest, which involves me driving an extra hour each day. The wonderful fall colds have already hit all of my family, and time has been flying by way to fast.

I have done a little bit of sewing. I made my cousin a nursing cover, the neighbor a couple of pillow cases, and blocks for my Michael Miller Clubhouse quilt.  (Sorry I do not have any pictures.)

Tonight, I got to work on my farmer's wife blocks! :-) I know I am way behind, but I hope to catch up maybe in the next couple of weeks. I really enjoy making these blocks. I am starting to think about sashing colors, I was thinking about Kona ashe, but I am second guessing that now. Any ideas? I know I will be adding more blocks with black and white prints too.
#86 Squash Blossom
This block reminds me of summers I spent working in my grandparents garden. I truly enjoyed these summers and loved the fresh squash!
Snowball
What is a snowball without a little winter blue? I like how this block turned out.
